IngreDiZymes (IDZ), a spin-off of Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), participated in Alimentaria FoodTech 2026, held from October 6 to 8 at Fira Barcelona – Gran Via. The event brought together companies, researchers, technology providers, and industry professionals to explore the latest innovations shaping the future of the food and beverage industry. Represented by our CEO, Néstor Ibarz, IngreDiZymes joined the Catalonia Startups exhibition area, supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya and IRTA, alongside other innovative FoodTech startups.
Showcasing our enzyme-based technologies
Throughout the three-day event, IngreDiZymes had the opportunity to present its technological approach to developing high-value functional and bioactive ingredients through innovative enzymatic and biotechnological processes. Our work focuses on transforming agro-food raw materials and by-products into valuable ingredients with potential applications in the food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic sectors. By combining enzymatic hydrolysis, extraction, fractionation, and biological activity assessment, we aim to develop functional solutions that respond to industry needs while promoting resource efficiency and circular economy principles. Alimentaria FoodTech provided an excellent platform to introduce our technologies to industry professionals, exchange knowledge, and explore potential applications and collaborations.
Connecting with the FoodTech innovation ecosystem
Beyond showcasing our research and development capabilities, participating in Alimentaria FoodTech 2026 was a valuable opportunity to connect with startups, established companies, researchers, and innovation professionals working towards a more technologically advanced food industry. Sharing the exhibition space with other FoodTech startups allowed us to discover innovative approaches, exchange experiences, and identify potential synergies for future projects. These interactions reinforce the importance of collaboration between science, entrepreneurship, and industry in accelerating the development of innovative solutions and bringing scientific discoveries closer to the market.
Supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in Catalonia
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Generalitat de Catalunya, IRTA, and the organizers of Alimentaria FoodTech for providing this opportunity to showcase emerging technologies and support the growth of innovative startups. It was a pleasure to be part of the Catalonia Startups exhibition area, surrounded by companies sharing a common commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technological development. For IngreDiZymes, participating in initiatives like this represents an important step towards strengthening our presence in the FoodTech ecosystem, expanding our professional network, and establishing new opportunities for collaboration.
We leave Alimentaria FoodTech 2026 with valuable connections, fresh perspectives, and renewed motivation to continue developing innovative enzyme-based ingredients for a healthier and more sustainable future.
